tara and jon

i knew i liked these two from the very first meeting i had with them.
tara and jon got married, literally, in the middle of a blizzard on march 2, 2007. the interstate was closed from des moines to minnesota to the north and from iowa city to nebraska east-west. many of their guests were unable to attend. and one family--a cousin and her husband who were parents of the flower girl--spent three days getting to des moines from denver. (a normally 10-hour drive). but these two didn't let it get them down for a second. they were warm and gracious and happy to carry on with those who could make it. we had such a great time and fell in love with them and their families. from grandma louise to the before-mentioned flowergirl, every one was a joy to be around.
congratulations. we are positive that you two have an incredible future ahead of you.

We're just finishing Sara and Steve's photos from the beginning of the year. We had such a great time with this beautiful, genuine couple. We can't wait for little RED HEDs to photograph.

back to iowa

this darling family moved to iowa from boulder, colorado and drove almost two hours for their session.
after a cancellation due to snow earlier in the winter, we finally connected. the kids are absolutely darling and we had such a fun time.
we hope to see you, again!

wow. i just went through all of last year's images to enter the last wpja contest and gather some photos for an upcoming seminar. what a year! i feel so blessed to have met so many wonderful people and continue photographing old friends. thank you for giving me these opportunities.
my favorite image from last year was actually taken by paige, but i'm a little biased by the subject matter.
can't wait to see what 2007 brings!

Today is the fourth anniversary since my dear friend and fellow photographer Jay Spence passed away.
Sometimes it seems like it was ten years ago and sometimes it seems like no time has passed at all.
We sure miss you Jay.

we are just finishing up the photos from brad and catherine's september wedding.
although it rained on their outdoor wedding, we got some beautiful photographs and catherine had no problem dancing in the rain in her incredible gown.
they were a gracious, beautiful couple!
