Maggie and Jeff were married at the University of Iowa Museum of Art in Iowa City on May 19th.
Besides being the nicest pair of the year, this darling couple had such a cool group of talented friends and friendly families. (Hopefully, Jeff has forgiven his brother for his best man toast by now.)
We almost had too many places to shoot at the gorgeous museum and the new center across the street. Thankfully, Maggie and Jeff let us drag them all over the grounds and nearby riverside.
They currently reside in New York City.

the h family
well, if you live in beaverdale, you know these guys.
these kids should be in movies.
with a minor set back (in the form of a splinter) to start the day, we still ended up having a really fun session. i could have photographed them for hours. the kids are hilarious.
if you see 'em around the hood, tell them hello.

lisa and eric
we love lisa and eric.
i hope it sounds sincere when i say this about so many of our couples, but we really did.
lisa and i have a little history. she was in two of my former bride's weddings. i will put a photo of the three couples below. you may recognize rebecca from my award-winning photo from the humor category of wpja a couple of years ago. (you may not recognize craig because he had rice covering his face.) and kelanne and tony had a gorgeous wedding the year before that in ames. all wonderful people, but back to the stars of this post.
lisa and eric have been dating for 8 years or something like that. i believe lisa is a nicu nurse at methodist. i actually ran into her as they were walking in to have my c-section last year, gown, hair net and all. i don't know what eric does, but he sports sunglasses really well. he's pretty bad-a**.
they had an incredible spring day and i'd never seen the room look so great at the gateway in ames. (yeah bella flora).
congratulations!
i wish i could add sound to this so you could hear this guy. he opened his mouth and sounded exactly like a fire siren. extreme talent. extremely loud.

cherie & quinn
WEDDINGS! this is what it's all about. we just shot our tenth wedding for the year and we've only just begun.
i decided it was time to post a few.
cherie and quinn were married way back in april. they were our kind of couple. they were relaxed and excited for us to photograph their day. i think i got one of my favorite wedding photographs of recent in the fields outside of their church.
we had a blast with them and commented many times on how much fun we had.
we are beans and weiner people, too.

babies
Two of my good friends, and possibly the finest wine hags in town, are expecting babies within a week of each other at the end of the summer. So we're having a shower for them in a couple of days.
This will be Tammy's first baby and Andrea's second and we can't wait to see what is brewing. Neither of them have spoiled the surprise, so we are having a gender-neutral party with a lot less wine than usual.
Of course, photos will follow their birthdays!

the A family
it is so hard to post now that we are in busy season. but i'm going to try to catch up this week.
this is my third time photographing this family. mila was about two when i started and she hated me. well, she hated getting her photos taken. now, she is quite proud to pose in front of the camera and she has a new little sister to smile with.
i did a quick little collage, as i am putting it up on the website.
i love being able to watch these families grow.
